TIMEOUT!!!!!!

Yesterday I woke up in a really good mood. When I went to wake up Daniel he was a SUPER GRUMP! I finally had to just send him to time out until he calmed down. As soon as he went to time out Monica started grumping too. I told them that they were not going to ruin my good mood, so I put jokingly put Monica in timeout next to Daniel. She thought it was really funny, and I thought it was cute.

Healer of our every ill

I recently learned a beautiful new song that I had never heard before. At our women's bible study we are studying a book on how to help suffering people through hard times. Daniel's New Sled

One of Daniel's favorite things to do in the winter is sledding. I know that I have posted video and pictures of him sledding before. In those pictures he had borrowed our neighbors sled. I am a bargain hunter and I refuse to pay full price for anything. We went to Meijer last night and found this sled in the clearance section. Daniel was very excited to have his own sled. He and Daddy are going to go out today and try it out. Daniel is so excited that he has been wearing his helmet all morning.

Our Ski Trip

The first weekend of February Brandon and I went on a small weekend get away up to Boyne Highland. It is a wonderful little ski resort in the upper part of Michigan. On Friday the 1st of February we set off for our weekend of adventure. It was a really snowy day and the roads were very slick. It was very nerve wracking to say the least. We had gotten about 40 miles outside of town and had already counted 12 cars in the ditch. After driving 4 1/2 hours we finally made it to our destination. When we drove up the main lodge I was very impressed. It was a very beautiful building.
We checked in and the first thing that we wanted to do was hit the slopes. I had never skied before, so Brandon was going to teach me how . Before we hit the slopes we had to get all decked out in our ski gear. That included multiple layers of clothing to try to keep us warm. Here is a picture of me all decked out in my ski gear.

The entire time that we were on the slopes I kept forgetting to bring my camera. So here is a picture of one of the ski lifts from a window in the main lodge. It was really nice because we were right on the slopes. We just walked out and there we were ready to ski.

On Saturday we decided to take a short trip up the Mackinac Bridge. We were only about 15 minutes away from it, so it was hard to pass up the opportunity. It was truly an amazing experience. It was just amazing to drive over the bridge, looking over the frozen lake.At the end of the bridge we stopped at the toll booth to pay a small toll. Well it was not really a small toll, it was $2. But it was worth it. After we paid the toll we went to try to explore the great Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Needless to say there was not that much there. We did see a small diner by the lake that we decided to stop and eat dinner.


We had a really great weekend away. We decided that we need to try to do something like this every year!

Toddler or Teenager???

Thanks to Daniel's grandparents he lives the life of luxury. Yesterday he wanted to play V-Smile in his room. His favorite game is a Lightning Mcqueen game that Uncle Randall got him for Christmas. He was sitting in his room playing his game when I came in the check on him. He was playing a matching game. I saw where one of the matches was so I said to him "Daniel I know where the match is." He looked at me pointed his finger and said "Mom let me do MY thing!" I was a little taken back and thought okay I will let him do HIS thing. Then I thought to myself, do I have a toddler or a teenager????

Oh How I Love Thee

I love going to our grocery store. They have a few good bribbing tools when it come to taking your children. For example they have what is called a TV cart. For $1 you can rent a car that is in the shape of a car on the front. Inside is a TV that shows a cartoon. They have a variety to chose from. One of Daniel's favorites is Bob the Builder. They also give free cookies away at the bakery for kids. And then if that is not enough to keep your little ones bribed to be good during the store trip, there is the 1 penny pony rides. It is a great deal. Daniel LOVES to ride the pony at the end of our trip to the store. If he has been good we always give him two pennies to use in the pony.

Big Brother Helper

Daniel loves to help out with Monica. I love it too because it is a HUGE help to me. There are somethings that I do not really like him helping with. One of those things is feeding. It makes a HUGE mess and I have to sit there anyway to make sure all goes well. But this is one of his favorite things to do, so on occasion I allow Daniel to feed here. Awana Grand Prix

Tonight at church was the Awana Grand Prix. Daniel had a lot of fun with mommy and daddy putting his car together. While waiting for race day Daniel kept talking about how he cannot wait for "the big race." He called it "the big race" because he LOVES Lightning Mcqueen and that is what the final race in the movie is referred to as. Daniel did very well tonight and won 2nd place in the cubbies division for speed! Mommy and Daddy are proud of our little racer!

Here are some pictures of Daniel at his school. I have been meaning to get some and put these up for awhile. The first picture is the outside of his class room. His class room is not in the main building, it is a trailer in the back of the building. The second picture is him signing in for the day. The teacher mixes up their names every day and then has a different sign for them to write under their name. The last two are Daniel with his teacher, Ms. Chris. He really loves her.

Winter Weather

Due to horrible road conditions and high wind, causing white outs there were three separate accidents on the highways yesterday. There was a 47 car pile up on northbound highway 131, a 37 car pile up on 131 southbound. There was also a 50 car pile up on I-96 and a 30 car pile up on I-196. Here are a couple of pictures that were on the news. We stayed in yesterday afternoon!
